The Rip Curl Pro Search Somewhere – Ocean Beach, San Francisco is set to run November 1-11, 2011. Kelly Slater is on track to win his 11th world title and there is a slight chance that it could happen on 11-11-11, the last day of the contest window. This would be a mathematical / marketing dreamland scenario. Thousands of Ke11y hats flooding the surf mag photo galleries online. Every grom will have one, Kelly’s girlfriend will be wearing one, maybe even Dane. Ke11y stickers on bathroom walls, in dive bars, at after parties, in San Francisco. ¡Que bueno!

Kelly, oh Ke11y…

11 world titles in year 11 of the second millennium? Most likely, at the Rip Curl Ocean Beach, San Francisco contest site. The forecast is calling for good size swell, and possible sunny days. Surfline.com is forecasting 10-11 ft swell for the beginning of the contest waiting period. This could be awesome!

What will Kelly be riding? Here is his France / Portugal quiver. A collection of Fred Rubbles and Semi Pros.

Surfer Magazine Guide to the first ever San Francisco World Tour Event

When most people heard that the Search was headed for San Francisco, the news was met with more than its share of criticism. The decision seemed to be a break with the Search format, which has traditionally favored a mix of exotic locations that offered perfect, or near-perfect, surf. Ocean Beach, by comparison, seemed to offer neither. -Surfing Magazine
