Here you see the Seagaia Ocean Dome in Miyazaki, Japan. The Dome, was a part of the Sheraton Seagaia Resort and cost $2 billon dollars to build. It produced excellent quality surfing waves every 2 minutes and was said by many to be the best artificial surfing experience developed to date. It used a pneumatic vacuum system, and it opened in 1993 and visitor numbers peaked in 1995 at 1.25 million a year. But sadly all good things come to an end, the Ocean Dome was officially closed on October 1, 2007 as part of a renovation and partial re-branding of the resort. Lucky for us the next generation of pneumatic waves has now arrived with the computer technology!
